i don't have health insurance but my boyfriend wants to take me to E.R but i don't want to go because im afraid of the bill...what should i do? can we get insurance while we are there?

PheonixB is right - if it's life threatening go to the ER. If not, contact your county health department to see if there is a county health center in your community. Our center sees anyone who comes to them. If you qualify for Medicaid they will help you with the paperwork. If not, they have a sliding scale fee based on your income, some people paying as little as a few dollars up to $15 or so. They also see patients with full insurance, people on Medicare, and people who pay in full. They are funded by private grants, federal grants, and grants from local hospitals, who save millions of dollars by people going to the center instead of the ER for routine care. Good luck to you!
