Should health insurance cover all expenses, or just catastrophic ones?

Home insurance covers big events, like fires, theft, etc. It doesn't cover replacing every light bulb. Shouldn't health insurance be the same way?

Good point, insurance should only cover catastrophic events. How high would your home owners insurance be if you filed a claim everytime you replaced a light bulb? You replaced a leaky pipe? It would be comparable to health insurance, this is one of the major factors influencing the cost. There is no personal responsibility in taking on expense for events i.e. flu shots, prescriptions and items under $500 . This would go a long way to reduce the cost of health insurance, one remedy that the conservatives had but the democrats ignored....higher deductibles.
