Health Insurance?

This may be silly, but I saw a commercial the other day on tv that was advertising for health insurance for a little over &5.00 a day. I am currently in the hunt for health insurance so i wanted to go online and get some info. As luck may have it by the time i was able to get on the internet i forgot what the website was. I know the company starts with an "e" and its right at the tip of my brain, but i cant remember. Like i said this is a bit silly, but if anyone knows what im talking about please let me know! I havent seen a commercial for it sense.... I live in dutchess county, NY. Thanks!

I actually work at eHealthInsurance.com (mentioned by one of your other readers), but no, the commercial in question was not ours. However, I might be able to give you a couple helpful tips. First of all, I would be a little suspicious of broad statements like the one you heard. It's not that the price quoted is necessarily false, but it doesn't tell you much about the kind of coverage they're offering.. Living in New York state, you cannot be turned down for coverage based on your medical history (in other states you could be), but coverage there can sometimes be more expensive than in other places around the country. However, you may be able to find some moderately affordable options. When it comes to individual health insurance options in NY, a lot depends on what kind of coverage you are looking for. If you want a broad health plan that covers things like prescription drugs, checkups and things like that, you're probably going to have to pay a good deal more than $5 a day ($150 a month). But in NY there are a couple of "hospital only" plans that may come in at about that price. These kinds of plan won't cover doctor's office visits, checkups, prescription drugs, etc. What they do cover is hospital charges – the kinds of charges you're likely to face if you have a serious illness or injury that requires hospitalization. So, plans like this do provide a valuable layer of protection against certain scenarios, but you'll need to decide if this is the kind of coverage you want, or if you're looking for something broader. I would strongly recommend that you talk to a licensed agent or visit a licensed online health insurance agency like eHealthInsurance.com. At our site, for instance, you can get free quotes from a selection of health insurance companies in your area, compare plan side and by side, and apply for coverage. Plus we have licensed agents you can talk to help you find the best match for your needs and budget. Our toll-free number is 1-800-977-8860. Good luck! Amir M, licensed agent
