I'm 20 F independent, and in between jobs (for the moment). is there an affordable health plan i can get that will at least cover the essentials? links are fine with me.

What do you consider "the essentials"? Companies will not write individual permanent policies on someone who is unemployed. Many companies do have short term medical (STM) insurance which was developed for people between jobs or between policies. If "the essentials" means coverage for catastrophic medical bills the STM policies are great. If "the essentials" are everyday doctor visits and prescriptions the STM policies generally will not cover you. Visit a local independent agent that works with all the major companies in your area. The agent can answer all your questions and can recommend the best policy for you. There is no extra charge when using an agent.
