Why do health insurance companies cover drugs like Viagra but not birth control pills?

I know life isn't fair but this seems like a truly unfair and sexist practice.

It doesn't work the way you described. EVERY health insurance company CAN cover things like Viagra AND birth control pills, and abortion, and maternity for that matter. Some employers choose NOT to purchase those coverages, from the insurance company, when they take out their group plans. It's like a menu, and the person who buys the policy, picks which coverages they want to buy. Nothing sexist or unfair about it, it's all about COST.
