My position was recently eliminated and I was terminated from my place of work. How long from this date will my heath insurance expire? Are there any laws in CT that prevent it from expiring the day I was terminated?

Were you eliminated today? If so, it's the first of the month and they may be able to term you effective today. Otherwise, it usually ends at the end of the month following termination, but some companies could opt to exempt if they're self-insured. You will likely receive a HIPAA certificate that allows you to go onto COBRA if you want. I recommend calling Customer Service.
