Is it legal for your workplace to tell you that you have to keep their health insurance?

They are saying that I have to keep it until October when it is time for "open enrollment", unless there is a death, birth, marriage, divorce, etc. I can drop my car insurance anytime I want to, but I HAVE to keep this insurance? Sounds fishy to me. Anyone know?

Many (maybe most) employer-provided insurance plans have a limited window in which you can make any changes, including cancelling. This is a normal practice.
