To anyone knows anything about health insurance please answer this question!?

If I have to pick a primary care physician, do I have to go to them every time or can I go anywhere that takes my health Insurance?? thanks

You have to pick a primary care physician if your health plan is a HMO-Health Maintenance Organization. To see any other Dr's. you would have to have a referral from your primary care physician. If it's a PPO-Preferred Provider Organization you can see any Dr. in the plan. In the case of an actual emergency you can go to ANY hospital and they have to accept you-whether they are part of the plan or not. Key word being TRUE emergency not a sore throat you had for a month.
