How do you meet the health insurance deductible level?

For instance, if the deductible is $1000 and the monthly premium is $100, do you have to make 10 monthly payments for a year to meet the deductible? I just don't get a whole concept
--------------------
You make all your monthly payments, they aren't part of the deductible. PLUS, you pay the first $1,000 of COVERED medical expenses. THAT is the deductible. If it's not covered, it doesn't count towards the deductible.
