my grad school health insurance ends on 8/7/10, but my new job's insurance doesn't begin until 90 days after 8/10/10. i don't want to get screwed on my taxes with charges for not having insurance. what are my cheapest options?

? Your taxes have nothing to do with health insurance (yet). How 'bout 'I don't want to lose my house from not having insurance." That would be a more appropriate statement. You just need a temporary plan. I have links to a half dozen different companies and information on my site.
