what is your opinion on Free Health Insurance?

many people think that free health insurance is a good idea. Personally i think its terrible. what's your opinion and why.

Of course, the insurance is not "free" because someone is paying for it. In Canada, there is a combined 15% provincial-federal sales and services tax, and income taxes and gasoline taxes are higher too, so don't worry, my dear Canadian friends, you are paying for your health care, one way or the other. The main problem with government-run health insurance, and government-run anything, is that it tends to be inefficient. As Canadian Prime Minister Harper has acknowledged, wait times in Canada are often excessive. The free market generally sorts things out better and more efficiently than bureaucratic dictates from on high. We need to regulate the health insurance companies, and establish standards for their operation, but we also need to retain the incentives of the free market. For these reasons, I am opposed to national health insurance.
