Can I purchase extra health insurance to cover my WHOLE pregnancy?

We have excellent health insurance, however we plan on getting pregnant in about a year or so. Isn't there some sort of "supplemental" insurance you can buy through Aflac or something that will help us cover the 10% that we will be required to pay for the pregnancy that the insurance didn't cover?

It's probably not worth your while to pay the premiums on this additional coverage, if your coinsurance is only 10%. Does your employer (or your spouse's) offer an FSA (flexible spending account)? If so, elect to defer the amount that you will be responsible for, and take advantage of the tax break that it offers you. Don't worry if you sign up for 2009 for a small amount (just to make sure you're signed up for it) and then get pregnant with a 2009 due date--this is considered a qualifying event and you can increase your deferral. The key is to be signed up. Don't forget, you can use your FSA funds for over-the-counter meds and first aid supplies, so if you defer money and don't use it all, stock up on first aid supplies, cold meds, etc in December.
