Dr bill and health insurance deductible?

My deductible is 300.00 I went to the hospital and my bill is 1500.00 my insurance says they pay 80% after the 300 deducitble. So will they pay 80 % of 1200. I am a little confused. Thanks.

You are correct. In this case your share of the charges will be the $300 deductible plus $240 (20% of $1200) coinsurance for a total of $540. Most policies have a yearly deductible, however, some will have a per occurance deductible. Also, most policy will have a maximum out of pocket amount to the coinsurance.
