Im sure millions of people wonder if they have a lapse in health insurance and have cancer for example, will the hospital refuse service to them. That goes for any health problem. What happens today when you go to the hospital with a heart attack and no health insurance? And are you treated as skum at the hospital and is your care reduced?

No. Although some hospitals may be filled with assholes who will butt you out. Hospitals are required to take in things like gunshot wounds, heart attacks, and all of those other immediate life threatening injuries and conditions. They have to take you in and stabilize you. At least that's what they do at Mass General Hospital and BU medical in Boston. It's those, what I like to call, "dumb" things that ERs can get filled with. You know. People with a cough and sore throat thinking they have TB. Those things that could be solved by a 5 minute doctor's visit (which in turn is actually and most literally tens to hundreds of times cheaper than going to an ER).
