Why would liberals rather pay a higher percentage of their income on taxes than they would on health insurance?

I had an answer to one of my health care questions the other day from someone who was talking about having to pay 25% of his income for health insurance. Won't he be paying 25% of his income to the government if this thing goes through? Where is the change here?

Many of them believe that they will not be paying the same amount of money or more. They believe that "rich" and "wealthy" people will be paying higher taxes, which will cover the cost of this insurance.
