My husbands employer seems to have cancelled his health insurance shortly after he went out on workmans comp., as they cancelled mine too. Now she's telling him that if he wants he can go COBRA?

If the employee's insurance is cancelled, so is the entire family's plan. Yes, if he wants to keep the health insurance, he should go on Cobra. And there's no grace period for that payment, so accept, and mail the payment in TODAY.
