Will health insurance companies jack up your premiums if you get sick and use the insurance?

This is in reference to individual health insurance.

No, individual health insurance cannot by law single you out for a rate increase nor can they cancel your insurance just because you get sick and use the policy. They can cancel your policy if you had pre-existing conditions that you didn't tell them about on the application.
