'I don't want to pay for someone else's health' and they themselves won't complain if they lost their health insurance and got a catastrophic illness. Riiight.

It's a travesty and nobody is OK with it. This might be a good time for a discussion on personal responsibility? Catastrophic insurance is available and affordable. If people CHOOSE not to mitigate their risk, they'll have to deal w/ the consequences. For those who can't afford it, there's medicaid/s-chip/state programs/etc. etc.. There are four necessities in life: 1. Water 2. Food 3. Health Insurance 4. Shelter Anything beyond these 4 necessities is considered a luxury. I'd keep them in that order.
