If you don't have health insurance, and get a prescription, how do you shop around to get the lowest price?

I am wondering about this because I never see the prices of prescription drugs displayed anywhere. Can you go to different pharmacies to see which has the lowest price?
--------------------
First before u leave Dr office ask him does he have any samples! Second, remind ur Dr that you don't have health insurance. Sometimes they know of programs where u get it for free or reduced cost. Third always ask him to write for generic brand. Know both names of the drug he's prescribing. Then comes the hard part of researching. Talk with the pharmacist giving him the name brand/generic name to see what the cost will be. Remember don't ask when they are too busy to help u. Many drugstores offer discounts but you have to ask. Some you can email online to ask questions. The worse they can say is No! Then I'd take my business elsewhere. Goodluck Fourth- go to the drug manufacturer if this is a medication you'll need long term. Many are now offering assistance to low to middle income families.

Did you realize that Obama "guaranteed" health insurance only covers children?

When most states already have it for children. Genius!
--------------------
"For the Children" is a mantra started during the Clinton's years in office. It sounds good and is an easy sell for whatever the democrats are pushing. However, I didn't realize that Obama's health insurance only covered children? Where did you see this or hear it. I'd like to read up on it. Thanks

Will Obama have an easier time with cap & trade than he has with health insurance reform?

How many billions of dollars of our money will he have to pay/bribe his own party to pass cap & trade?

nope...we're all on to his scheming ...well most of us

Is pet insurance worth it? if so which is the best one are there any like people health insurance?

whats up with the reimbursing when i go to the doctor i pay twenty bucks and thats it is there one like that for pets?
--------------------
My mom pays about $500 a year to cover two cats. I believe it's called Veterinary Pet Insurance of America or something like that. Now that may sound like a lot but one of the cats did catch feline anemia and that treatment was expensive. Another cat was attacked by an outside cat and had to have an abscess drained. I don't know what pet you have but a lot of cats and dogs can live past 15 years and if you want to take care of them in their elderly years pet insurance might be worth it. On a side note pet obesity is about as epidemic as Adult Human obesity. Type 2 diabetes rates are growing in many of our overweight pets.

why not use medicaid for public health insurance?

does it make sense to simply use the existing medicaid system, and extend its reach to include uninsured americans, instead of starting up a whole new system?
--------------------
Well, I have dealt with medicaid before. It is not easy. It is run VERY inefficiently, has a VERY limited network and super huge waiting lists for almost every service that is not general practice. It sounds like a good idea, though I think they need to get rid of the HMO's that are involved with it. They should also speed up the process to pay the doctors for their services. It needs some serious work done to it, but I think it could work.
