Family health insurance plan or individual health insurance plans for each person?

I am quoting health coverage in Kansas for my family since we do not get this from an employer. My agent suggested that each family member have a separate insurance plan instead of one family plan to cut costs. I have never heard of doing this? Any comments or suggestions? Thanks

Usually, it would make more sense to have everyone one the same plan. However, I have heard of circumstances where some members of the family have a separate policy, because of one family member's health issue. The healthy family members can stay on a lower premium policy, while the family member with the health complication goes on their own policy. It really just depends on the circumstances involved. Make sure to get quotes for each scenario, so that you can make a fully informed decision.

the cost of health insurance for Americans? The Baucus bill requires all future health insurance policies to include: Cover all preexisting conditions. No life time cap on claims. All doctors office visits. Dental coverage on all policies. All prescriptions included. All mental health issues. How can Liberals gloss over the fact that that's going to make health insurance more expensive? Just saying the insurance companies make too much money already is not going to change reality.

Will I be covered with health insurance during Army BCT?

I know I signed up for the max life insurance, how does health insurance work? Are you automatically covered while on active duty for training (I'm National Guard) or do I need to sign up for Tri-Care?

It's my understanding that you'll ONLY be covered by Tricare while you're on active duty orders for the Federal Gov't...not State Call-Ups. But, talk to your National Guard recruiter or someone with your unit to be sure. I don't know, nor do I think, you can carry Tricare when you're not on orders. As far at the life insurance goes...that's a totally different ball game. You're paying for a service and it's guranteed. But, with health insurance you're not paying for anything.

Most health policies cover only hospitalisation . Go for a policy from a PSU like The New India Assurance Co. The service might not be the best , but claim settlements are better than the private players.
